Becareful of Depression when Dealing with Bacterial Vaginosis
Depression is a real killer. Many of us really are often not even fully aware that it is creeping up on us until it is far too late and we've already sunk into a full fledged depression. Once we've reached that stage, it is often an uphill battle to get out of depression alone - nevermind actually dealing with any other problems that you have.
In this case, those 'other problems' would be bacterial vaginosis - and you should be aware that it can definitely lead you to the brink of depression. Let's face it, conditions such as bacterial vaginosis are not just physically traumatizing. Instead, they're emotionally traumatizing as well and that is the part that can really get to you if you're not careful.
When you walk around feeling ashamed of your body and what it is going through - that is one step towards depression already. When you feel unappealing and unattractive - that is another. When you find yourself unwilling and unable to have sex due to the fact that you don't want your partner to smell that 'fishy' smell - that's yet another step towards depression.
All of these steps eventually add up, and the longer your bacterial vaginosis persists, the more you're going to find yourself having to deal with the emotional trauma that it causes. Shame and a low self esteem are really just the beginning of the problem. If you actually end up in a full on depression, you'll find yourself feeling a distinct sense of hopelessness that can overwhelm everything.
From the get go, you need to be prepared for this. Start dealing with it by simply telling your partner what you're going through, and confiding in them. That alone will help you in more ways than one because your partner will undoubtedly be sympathetic to your plight. Also, from that point on you will have someone whom you can't talk to about your problem, and work together with them to get over it.
Also, you need to pursue every avenue possible in order to find a cure. Go about it with a vengeance. Treat your bacterial vaginosis as an enemy that you need to kill off at all costs! Remember - it is not your fault that this happened, and it could have happened to anyone. The important thing at this stage is to deal with the problem instead of blaming yourself for it.
Despite taking steps to handle depression, if you do find yourself slowly but surely giving in, be sure to talk to your partner, and maybe even a professional if it gets serious. All things said and done, you need to take care of your emotional well being as much as your physical well being if you want to overcome bacterial vaginosis.
